own basic supplies, patterns and fabric unless otherwise specified- "click

Machine & Sewing Basics
The first class for teens and adults who have never sewn or need
a basics refresher. We will cover sewing machine basics--major
parts, threading, bobbin use, simple maintenance and operation.
You will learn about seam allowance, to stitch straight, back
tack, turn corners, pressing and to trouble-shoot threading issues.
Leave with a completed project: a small purse. All supplies for
this class are provided by the lounge. Use one of our machines
or bring your own if you want to learn it specifically. Serves
as the prereq for Adult Beginning Sewing-Level 1 and includes
1.5 hours of lounge time! 2.5 hours, $45

Beginning Sewing for Adults-Level 1
Now the fun really starts! In this three-session class you will
learn many of the sewing techniques you'll use in nearly everything
you make. Make a chef's or artist's apron using the Palmer/Pletsch
beginning sewing pattern provided. Oh, if all patterns had directions
this concise and clear! I sew along with you and demonstrate all
phases of construction from fabric choice to the final stitch. Bring
your own machine or drive a lounge rig. See class details for supplies

You're cruising now. In this three-session class, make a beautiful
banded kimono robe using the fabulous Palmer/Pletsch pattern provided.

Beginning Sewing for Adults-Level 3
Oh,
the blooming confidence is showing now! In this three-session
class, make pajama pants and top using the fabulous Palmer/Pletsch
pattern provided. We'll do some fit work also. Attack a collar,
buttons & buttonholes, elastic or drawstring wastband and more
pockets. You'll be ready to start sewing the clothes you really
want to wear! Use your machine or ours. Includes pattern, bring

Saturday September 20, 10am to 8pm
This event is absolutely FREE and a great way for you to see what
we have to offer in the way of classes, equipment and inspiration.
Come for five minutes or stay for 12 hours and really get something
done! I will be here all day to answer questions, give hands-on
help with your projects, brew up the best cup of coffee west of
the Mississippi, and help you catch the sewing bug! Registration
is not mandatory, but if you want to have a work space and machine,
please do shoot me an email at helen@seamdivas.com so I have a spot
reserved for you. If you're just curious--swing on by for a visit!

Hemmed in ...and happy to be there!
Really!! This class is being offered by request and will free you
from your hemming dilemmas! You'll learn when to use which hemming
style and we will practice two simple hand techniques, learn three
ways to finish your raw edges, and best of all of the easy way
to hem JEANS! That's right, kiss your stapler and duct tape goodbye...
or at least get them out of your sewing supplies. Take home samples
you can refer to later. Bring a pair of jeans to practice with.
